NOTES AROUND THE HISTORICAL PERIODIZATION IN THE CONTEMPORARY HISTORY OF MEXICO
Keywords:
History, National history, Mexico, HistoriographyAbstract
This essay deals with the problematic of periodization in the contemporary history of Mexico. In a journey through the debates and the different ways of subdividing and classifying the history of this country, will be highlighted the interrelations between the cultural and political context and the various historical narratives that have been manifested during the last Decades. In particular is remarked here the effect of the changing perception of the Mexican Revolution as a founding event, with the passage from a predominantly national and modernist view to a more global and postmodernist one, including the critical and eccentric positions that always accompany the dominant narratives.
