Abstract

The educational model of a university expresses the educational proposal, gives it identity and the difference from other universities, it is an institutionally shared vision regarding the type of professional to be trained, how it will be trained, how it will be evaluated and how the various components will be articulated of the training process. The purpose of the article is to interpret the process of configuration and social legitimization of the educational model of the National University Hermilio Valdizán, Peru, which began its construction in 2016 and is currently in the implementation phase. The method followed is the case study, qualitative methodological perspective, documentary reviews, interviews, questionnaires and socializing groups were carried out. The educational model, for whose construction a leading team was constituted, is based on socioformation, commitment to transdisciplinarity and articulates undergraduate, postgraduate and continuous training. The socialization of the progress and the completed model allowed the university community to be involved and improve the model. Gradually, the curriculum of the programs is being structured based on training projects, which foresees articulating knowledge and collaborative work of students and teachers in solving problems in the context to contribute to improving the living conditions of the community.
