Abstract

Nowadays, education is immersed in a global change process, starting with the use of active teaching methods thattoday'ssocietydemands. Educational buildings have become obsolete facing a new model that requires spaces that accommodates new ways of teaching and learning. In this paper, a literature review is carried out in order to determine which these newmethodsare, toknow their spatial demanding and to point out the answers coming from architecture theory and practice. The search results show that, on the one hand, teaching methods don’t change the use of the learning spaces by themselves and other factors also come into play. On the other, they reveal a change towards flexible and versatile spaces through participatory design processes in which educational community should take part.
