Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the mechanisms of fashion on disability, not only from the role of functionality, but mainly from a conception of aesthetics and beauty that maximize the expression and values that spin around disability. In a literature review there are some ideas about fashion in sociality, from the perspective of the body and the importance of clothes in perceptions and meaning processes that use the individuals with a disability to consolidate into a social group. We conclude that clothing plays an important role as it helps the person with disabilities to establish a positive self-image and facilitates communication and social interaction.
