FORMULATION OF THE CONCEPT SINGLE MOTHER BY CHOICE, AN APPROACH BASED ON CONCEPTUAL MAPPING

Abstract

Introduction. Industrial progress brings with it the sociological advance and the adaptive behavior of
the human being based on his culture and the permanent development of his emotional intelligence
combined with his resilience capacity to achieve happiness; the woman is a protagonist of change,
and she chooses to be a mother in her social, work and cultural moment. Target. Systematize and
analyze the social, emotional concept of the single mother by choice, in order to create a conceptual
basis for future research in the historical process of sociological development of the family.
Methodology. A qualitative investigation is used, based on the technique of conceptual mapping.
Results. An analysis of the concept is presented based on eight axes, which are: notion,
categorization, characterization, differentiation, division or application, linkage, methodology and
exemplification. Conclusions. The single mother is a woman who understands that with the birth of a
child the identity of the mother-child binomial appears and a new concept of family emerges.
