POVERTY PERSPECTIVE AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAMMES IN ECUADOR
Keywords:
Poverty, Human Development Bonus, Welfare Programs, Beneficiary PopulationAbstract
The article aims to identify the relationship of poverty with welfare programs from an anthropological perspective, through a documentary review considering the levels of poverty and extreme poverty, from a general vision to the territorial position of Ecuador. For this, the deductive-theoretical method is considered, with a descriptive level, based on the specialized literature on the subject; where differential elements are established on social support to vulnerable sectors in health, education, and housing. The results show that the assistance programs had different effects, some improved the quality of life, others their health and education condition; however, they did not contributeto the reduction of poverty, being necessary to propose policies that guarantee participation in employment and income generation. In Ecuador, it is believed to reduce the incidence rate of poverty through the conditioning system and to banish the intergenerational problem of poverty. It is concluded that assistance programs do not significantly influence the reduction of poverty, but rather depends on the type of program, place, beneficiary and condition.
