THE INTEGRATION OF REFUGEES IN BRAZIL: SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF ITS EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract

International migration increased dramatically in the present century. This phenomenon can be felt even in Brazil. Thus, it was up to the country to implement measures to ensure the full integration of these groups in their society, seeking their well-being. This paper aims to analyze the mechanisms of reception and integration of refugees in Brazil from a sociological perspective, understanding that this discipline can contribute greatly to the public policies inserted in this mass. Thus, at first, the system of protection of the rights of refugees in Brazil will be presented. Then, a sociological critique of these mechanisms will be done. Finally, proposals focused on sociology will be presented, always aiming the better realization of the rights of refugees in Brazil.
