Abstract

Introduction: The importance of memory lies in the ability of the brain to acquire, store and retrieve information from the past; since this allows us to remember the sensations, facts and images. Objectives: To understand the importance of memory in the individual and determine which is the cause of greater incidence in memory dysfunction. Methodology: A documentary bibliographic technique will be used, of transversal and descriptive type, using virtual platforms Scopus, Scielo, Proquest, WOS and academic google, thus obtaining historical data as current. We will make a macro-micro hierarchical approach and delimit the problem at the level of both Colombia and Ecuador, establishing data to compare the results obtained. Results: It was possible to verify that the memory exerts great importance in the daily activities of the human being and the diverse consequences that a dysfunction of the same one can cause. Conclusions: Thanks to the memory we have the faculty of having our own identity because if it were not that way we could not preserve the knowledge, being a learning through trial and error. The most important cause of memory dysfunction is aging, neurodegenerative diseases
