THE UNEXISTENT UTOPIA. LA ISLA DE LA PASIÓN OF LAURA RESTREPO
Keywords:
Restrepo, Island of the Passion, Utopia, Gender, Dream, ViolenceAbstract
The dispossession of the Island of Clipperton (Island of the passion) in the Mexican Republic in the 1930s has been viewed from several points of view, including the legal problem and the plundering of national territory by foreign powers at the same time that the amazing story of its survivors has inspired various films, miniseries and documentaries, among others. The island of the passionof Laura Restrepo takes a different course because, from the consolidation of the island as a non-existent dream, it shows the limits of utopias, covert violence and the impossibility of disconnection with the world. This establishes gender solidarity as the only safe and capable point of preserving life.
