THE GENDER QUOTAS: AN UNFINISHED GOAL. POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN GUANAJUATO (MÉXICO)
Keywords:
Gender quotas, Guanajuato, Political participation, Gender perspectiveAbstract
The gender quotas implemented by the political parties during the nineties of the last century have had little impact on the inclusion of women in state and municipal politics, because cultural gender barriers persist under an "inclusive" discourse especially in conservative states such as Guanajuato. This is demonstrated by the statistics and diagnoses of political participation. These arguments are supported by the documentary and statistical review of women's political participation and analysis with a gender perspective (based on the theoretical approach of JoanScott, Mabel Bellucci and Gayle Rubin) of a survey applied to women politicians in the aforementioned entity.
