Abstract

The objective of the present study is to know the way in which the curriculum design of the Psychology´s career, within its curricular structure, has thematic training to attend and intervene social groups that are in vulnerable situation. As also: 1) Identify the contributions that the curriculum has for future work practice, 2) Identify the difficulties that the student would present in the work or professional practice in a situation with a vulnerable social group, 3) determine if the curriculum necessarily covers the acquisition of academic competences in the development of issues of social groups in vulnerable situations, 4) To know which skills / knowledge the student has used in intervention with vulnerable social groups, and finally, 5) To know if the student believes it pertinent to update or adjust the curriculum based on current problems. The study was carried out with 288 students from the University of Sonora who were studying for a degree in Psychology, applied 15-item Likert questionnaire was used to know the curricular formation of the students. The results showed that students are not being trained to care for social groups that are in a vulnerable situation, They have little knowledge and present difficulties to apply the knowledge they acquired in their work and professional practice, the curriculum program does not provide them with the necessary skills for their work practice, with respect the change of the curriculum design, the students responded that a new curricular design is necessary since new needs and problems are emerging in the society where the intervention of the psychologist is necessary.
