This paper has the objective to study the governor figure created by Mexican writer Eligio Ancona (1835-1893) into his historic novel El Conde de Peñalva (1866). Such configuration has great importance because it shows an historic, ideological and political universe that is a significant mechanistic to the literary construction of this figure. From this action emerge a total rejection to any form of external intervention and any model of the governor figure as a national project.
