POWER RELATIONS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TOURIST DESTINATIONS, AN EFFECTIVE LINK IN GOVERNANCE. ZEMPOALA, HIDALGO, MEXICO CASE
Abstract
The management of tourist destinations in local governments aims to use the heritage of these areas
only as a tourist attraction, without considering the relationships between those who participate in this
activity like that of governance which implies the coordinated functioning of stakeholders in the
destination. The aim of this research is to reveal the power relations between the stakeholders
involved in the town of Zempoala, Hidalgo through a correlational analysis to determine the degree
of power and governance. The results demonstrate the existence of positive relations in the degree
of power; however, in terms of governance, this is incipient, concluding that, based on their roles, the
inclusion of stakeholders and government actions are inequitable and efficient management of the
destination is not generated.
