URBAN GOVERNANCE IN THE PROMOTION OF DEMOCRATIC PLANNING IN THE MEXICAN TERRITORIAL AND URBAN ISSUE1
Abstract
The Mexican territorial and urban issue is an integral part of national development, through the
framework of Democratic Planning. However, the results are currently unsatisfactory. Given this, the
institutional framework and objectives of Democratic Planning in Mexico focused on territorial and
urban planning were reviewed. Additionally, the importance of citizen participation in Public Policies
and planning was investigated, as well as the opportunities that governance offers, observing that the
promotion of Urban Governance is valuable in strengthening a Democratic Planning focused on a
congruent development with the national planning objectives, about the indicated subject
