COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CARE POLICIES IN LATIN AMERICAN: TOWARDS PUBLIC POLICIES TO RECOGNIZE, REDUCE AND REDISTRIBUTE UNPAID CARE1
Abstract
This article analyzes current care policies in six Latin American countries: Argentina, Chile, Colombia,
Mexico, Paraguay, and Uruguay, with the aim of contributing to the design of public policy, from a
gender perspective, of the 3 Rs (Recognize, Reduce and Distribute) of care work. In general, it could
be said that, in the countries analyzed, there is still much work to be done in relation to social coresponsibility for care; and the design of policies, programs and other initiatives that promote the
recognition, reduction and redistribution of unpaid care, should consider territoriality and
intersectorality from the rights, gender perspective, resulting in restructuring the production and
reproduction of the sex / gender system and, therefore, a new social organization of care.
