TEACHING OF HUMANITIES IN BRAZIL: CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM IN TEACHING OF HUMANITIES FOR INTEGRAL HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
In Brazil, the theoretical and empirical review of subjects in the humanities areas for basic education
takes place with greater power after redemocratization. The teaching of art, portuguese language,
history and geography is completely revised. Philosophy and sociology are reinstated in the
curriculum. With the same load of interaction, the sociopolitical conditions of the early 2020s, with the
new rise of the far right, make deep attacks on these disciplines and their contents explicit. In this
article, we propose, at first, the analysis of this context and, in the second part, discuss data produced
around a stricto sensu graduate program in the area of teaching humanities. In this way, we have a
panorama of the country and the behavior of scientific productions from a master's degree that aims
to contribute to the continuing education of professionals who live with these attacks.
