Abstract

The aim is to contribute to the analysis of the prevalence of homophobic and discriminatory thoughts
and attitudes in the academic and work context at the national level, specifically homophobia anddiscrimination within the work and academic environment of the State University of Sonora (UES)
Hermosillo Academic Unit (UAH). For this purpose, an exploratory study with convenience sampling
procedures were employed. Finding that homophobia and discrimination are a part of the UES,
making themselves known through subtle prejudices, as toxic as blatant discrimination, which is why
the need for manage spaces for the study, analysis, and exchange of thoughts on inclusion, equity,
diversity, and equality, as a strategy that helps to mitigate discrimination, segregation, and violence
from the educational sector.
