PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE WRITTEN TEXTUAL PRODUCTION OF DEAF STUDENTS: INFLUENCES OF POUNDS ON LP
Abstract
This paper aims to discuss issues related to the written textual production of deaf students; more
specifically, we aims to analyze the textual production of deaf students inserted in regular school,
focusing on the organizational structure of their texts, identifying if the texts of these students
approaches or moves away from the prototypical use of the standard Portuguese writing. Since deaf
students use different strategies to mobilize language (use of visual anatomy and hand and arm
anatomy in the case of sign language), a comparison between the textual production of different deaf
students, identifying the differences they present in relation to conventional writing. As a suggestion,
we will present some possibilities of strategies that may help teachers and deaf students in working
with the written text in Portuguese.
