EMERGING CHILEAN COMPOSERS: AGENT OF CHANGE TO THE CHILEAN MUSICAL CANON
Abstract
The historical suppression of women has been a constant that has spread to the most diverse areas
of study and the arts are no exception. In the case of creation in learned music, it reaches the point
of not being included in any theme of the curricular networks, therefore it is valid to ask, are there
women composers? If a few have recently been included in the history of European music, then the
next question is whether there are in Latin America and Chile. The following writing seeks to answer,
through different sources, if there are women composing and why they are not known.
