Abstract

The library should be the privileged space for the dissemination of information and the construction
of knowledge in the community it serves. However, when entering the day-to-day life of libraries, it is
clear that there are challenges for a comprehensive service to the target audience and its
characteristics. In this article we seek to present the issue of the inclusion of people with disabilities
in the library. For this, a qualitative research was released by hand to produce and analyze
observational data in a library in the municipality of Santo Augusto / RS. The results show that there
are many challenges for the realization of an inclusive bibliographic proposal. These challenges are
multifactorial and to face them it is necessary to raise awareness and invest in public policies for
inclusion in libraries
