PARENTALITY AND SOCIOEMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT: A REVIEW
Abstract
The human being is social and sociable gifted with rationality and emotionality, it is known, that socioemotional skills will develop at some level. However, to search find for evidence that parenting
practices facilitate this development. To realize an integrative review of the literature to find evidence
that makes it possible to trace the parenting style that promotes the development of social-emotional
skills in children and adolescents. A search was made for references in the CAPES, Google Scholar
and Pubmed databases in April 2021. The search allowed the identification of 13 articles that met the
established criteria. As result, it was to observe that at least 70% of the articles indicated the parental
style indulgent as a facilitator of socioemotional development. Two parenting styles were associated
with the adequate socioemotional development: indulgent and the authoritarian. Thus, the skills
acquired early in life are predictors of success in all ciclo vital.
