ALFREDO LÓPEZ AUSTIN, A FIGURE OF THE MESOAMERICAN THOUGHT
Abstract
This article analyzes the thought of Alfredo Lopez Austin, being a central figure in understanding the
Mesoamerican universe. Its main objective is to analyze their academic training and their key works:
Tlacuache`s myth, where raises the importance of myth. Thus the main authors who influenced him in the
foundation of the concept of myth developed to expose the Mesoamerican tradition. Also, the background that
led him to build new theoretical approaches such as the "hard core" in Mesoamerican worldview are plotted.
