THE METHODOLOGY OF PROFESSIONAL SIMULATION AS A TOOL FOR THE ACQUISITION OF SKILLS IN TRAINING PROFESSIONAL: CASE STUDIES
Abstract
Vocational training in image and sound area has faced in recent years the challenge of adapting to a
constant evolution of technology that has led to the transformation of the audiovisual sector.
Instructing students in these new tools and in the acquisition of the associated competencies, is one
of the main concerns of teachers of vocational training, since it is not only possible to teach them to
do, in addition they must be prepared to learn autonomously, because their work will be conditioned
by obtaining new knowledge in a self-sufficient way. Therefore, the professional simulation
methodology is established as a particularly useful technique, as it places the student in a real
performance scenario, providing significant, proactive, and dynamic learning. The analysis of two
proposals carried out in the “Training cycle of making of audiovisual projects and shows” of the
European University of Madrid – a fashion show for diversity and a live television gala – assesses the
suitability of this methodology as a competency tool that allows students to learn by doing, giving
them the skills necessary to adapt to an ever-changing competitive sector.
