Abstract

The article analyzes the role of human capital in business organization from a historical perspective, taking as an object of study the El Oro and Tlalpujahua Mining District, Mexico. The methodological approach affects the importance of the knowledge, organizational capacities and experience of mining engineers in the operational management of the economy of the “Las Dos Estrellas” Mining Company in El Oro and Tlalpujahya, in the transit from the 19th century to XX. This mining company was one of the most important that operated in Mexico in that period, dedicated to the extraction of gold and silver, whose productive apparatus linked to technological change, demanded skilled labor, which made possible a sustained increase in productivity. and business profitability. Then, human capital stopped being seen as one of the components of the productive gear, placing itself in a strategic position in the business organization; it was their responsibility to plan and execute the effective and rational use of natural assets and physical infrastructure of mining companies in the passage from the 19th century to the 20th century
