Abstract

Like in other geographical and climatic enclaves, studies about the problems of conservation of rock art in desert areas are a priority when it comes to assessing the state of preservation of the same. In this presentation we present part of the study that we have carried out on the rock engravings of the region of El Arenoso-El Sásabe in the Sonoran desert (Mexico) corresponding to the Poblamiento Temprano en el Noroeste de Sonora (Caborca, México) project. The developed of it has allowed us to investigate several rock art sets and to evaluate the first degrees of their alteration, mainly due to environmental, biochemical and anthropic factors.
