Special Editions Return: A Story of Continuity, Memory, and Community

16-02-2026

There are stories written not only with achievements, but also with absences, doubts, and the quiet courage to keep going.

When Revista Inclusiones took its first steps in 2014, one of the earliest expressions of its collaborative spirit was the creation of Special Editions. Leading that inaugural effort was Mg. Adriana Angarita Fonseca, from Colombia, who spearheaded what would become the beginning of an academic network that over the years expanded to Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Spain, and beyond. Those thematic editions became an essential part of the journal's work: spaces where researchers from different corners of the world came together around shared questions.

Everything changed in 2022 with the passing of our founder, Juan Guillermo Estay Sepúlveda. His death left us, as a team, facing a difficult question: were we capable of continuing? The Special Editions were put on hold. We focused on our traditional issues, learning, holding on, wondering whether what we were doing was enough to honor what he had built.

The answer came unexpectedly, but decisively.

In January 2025, Revista Inclusiones received the Qualis A1 classification from CAPES — the highest distinction in Brazil's scientific evaluation system — corresponding to the period 2021–2024. That recognition was not merely an academic honor: it was confirmation that the journal had continued to grow in the same spirit that founded it. Under the leadership of Rodrigo Arenas López the editorial team had maintained the quality, rigor, and commitment that have always defined Inclusiones.

To that were added new technical milestones: indexation in BASE and CORE, which now ensures that a large portion of our articles — current and future — are automatically available in more than 18,000 academic institutions worldwide. A presence that would not have been possible without our network of reviewers, collaborators, and contacts who, issue after issue, have believed in this project.

All of this gives us today something we felt we had lost for a time: the confidence to move forward. And with that confidence, we are proud to announce the relaunch of our Special Editions.

We invite researchers, professors, and universities to propose and develop thematic volumes that are relevant, rigorous, and reflect the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach that defines us: all areas of knowledge linked to the study of the human being, society, and its environment.

If you have a proposal or would like to know how to participate, write to us at contacto@revistainclusiones.org. We are ready to build the next chapter together.
