PSEUDONYMS OF WOMEN IN SPANISH HISTORY

Abstract

According to the Dictionary of the Royal Academy, Pseudonym / pseudonym, adjective from the Greek: ψευδώνυμος pseudṓnymos. Said of an author who hides his real name with a false name. In the case of women, they went into hiding during the 19th and 20th centuries, for educational, personal, family, cultural and social reasons. In many cases because the paternalistic or macho society that rejected that women could do the same as a man, even in the letters they surpassed many of them. Luckily for them, the publishers of the press and books participate in this complicity with the authors so that they use a pseudonym, often male, to hide their nature.
