THE GREEK ORIGIN OF THE DEVOTION TO ROMAN EMPEROR: SOME CONSIDERATIONS
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the phenomenon known as ‘imperial cult’ in its beginnings
in Greece and elsewhere in the empire before its official start. The central axis will be to analyze the compromise
solution actuated by Augustus, through various documentary sources.
