Abstract

This article deals with the results of a study carried out at a municipal public school in the city of Cumaru, from state of Pernambuco, focusing on possibilities and limitations in the teaching and learning process of a deaf student. It elucidates the special educational needs of this student, based on the linguistic aspect - Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) - in other visual and human resources, essential for the acquisition of knowledge. It establishes a parallel between the curricular adaptations, proposed by the Ministry of Education, for the process of school inclusion of students with deafness and the operationalization of these adaptations in the school researched. It is a descriptive and explanatory work, whose data collection occurred "in the field" through interviews with teachers and students, as well as classroom observations.
