TRANSFER AND VISUAL SYMBOLISM IN EL TIEMPO ENTRE COSTURAS

The story narrated in the mini-series El tiempo entre costuras is an adaptation of a bestseller novel, from which it took its main source of inspiration. However, although the series was promoted as the filmic expression of literary fiction, a detailed examination reveals an elaborate work by the screenwriters, to add content and visual elements to the series that were not in the novel. A singular detail that characterizes the text of the series is the use of a set of objects as an inspiring source to structure the story and lengthen the content with respect to the novel's hypotext, in order to provide a greater dramatic impact and increase the emotion in the viewer. The aim of this study is to analyze in the script of the series, the use of certain specific objects that were managed with remarkable skill to generate new actions and configure a particular visual symbolism. The research shows that the insertion of new stories and even new characters in the main body of the novel, was done in a coherent way, so that the viewer does not appreciate a break with the initial hypotext.
