THE FLAVOR AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF STRAWBERRY AND CHOCOLATE: INTELECTUAL GASTRONOMIC POSSIBILITY 20 YEARS AFTER
Abstract
It is taken as reference of the gastrocritic coined by Ronald Tobin, this study rewinds 20 years of the
cinematographic legacy of strawberry and chocolate for exploring an ideology where literature and food formalize
gathering favorable places for the rearticulation of the new man in the Cuba from seventies. Against the grain of
the topic about friendship between a homosexual and a young activist, the full- length film from Gutiérrez Alea
makes a summary in what forms the books are the nourishment with which is able to feed a new friendship, and
through intellectual conversations and refined comelatas is left in evidence how the abundance (and /or lack) of
food becomes in metonymy of all a literary abundance (and/ or lack) in Cuba during the special Period.
